Umbrella Project 2025
Umbrella Project 2025 in Kabwe, Zambia at the Sakamana Before-School Nutrition Program
Christmas came early a few weeks ago for one of the Sakamana locations!
At the end of September, I received a surprise email from one of our newest monthly partners looking to work on a Christmas project for some of the Sakamana students. Working with the budget that our partner had in mind, we were able to come up with the idea for umbrellas!
The rainy season has usually begun by December. The arrival of the rainy season is met with great excitement especially because Zambia is usually without precipitation from April to November. Along with the rains, though, is plenty of dampness especially for the students as they walk to and from school.
The students usually have only one uniform each to wear for the entire school year. None of the students have a clothes dryer to keep their uniform dry after each jaunt to school. An umbrella is a small gift with a big impact!
Each of the 80 students who received an umbrella were so thankful for their gift! The excitement and joy on their faces were contagious as each student was given an umbrella.
Many thanks to Bobbie and her friends for this generous donation that enabled Sakamana to bless 80 students with an umbrella for Christmas.
